Crusade spotlights our local markets
Wigan, Leigh and Ashton Markets are all taking part in Love Your Local Market Fortnight with entertainment and discounts on offer for shoppers.
Traders are urging shoppers who have not been to their local market for a while to come down throughout the fortnight.

Hide AdThe wide offer of fresh fruit and veg, meat, cheese, bakeries and lots of other food stalls mean the borough’s markets are ideally placed for shoppers wanting fresh food.
Wigan borough’s markets also pride themselves on a friendly welcome and personal and helpful service.
They also have high quality service stalls including hairdressers, key-cutting, and electrical products as well as hot food and friendly welcoming cafés.
The fortnight is being supported by Wigan Council which, as part of The Deal, backs the local economy to grow and encourages people to shop local.

Hide AdEvents taking place during the campaign, which runs from Wednesdays May 17 to 31, include:
At Wigan Market face-painting, a French stall with Wigan’s twin town Angers, street theatre with the Dinner Ladies, a pop-up craft market and stall for young people from Wigan Youth Zone;
At Leigh Market there will be a pop-up craft market, face painting, discount offers from traders and the opportunity to win Leigh Centurion family tickets; andAshton Market will feature entertainment from the Great Diamondo, face painting and a pop-up craft market.
Glenn Furnival, who runs the Fish Man of Leigh stall in Leigh Market, said: “We are proud to support Love Your Local Market and are always keen to welcome new customers to the market.
