The 17-year-old suffered multiple knife wounds when at least four people set upon him outside Markland Court, Frog Lane, at 10pm on Thursday September 15.
Two young women who tended to the stricken young man said that they were terrified that he was going to die as he lost blood from the neck injury and had also suffered serious wounds to his arm and hand.

In a brief statement, a spokeswoman for Greater Manchester Police said that a 60-year-old man and 25-year-old woman have been arrested in connection with the incident and remain in police custody for questioning.
They were detained on suspicion of assault.
No update has been given on the condition of the teenager.
Ella Wilson, 20, and Ellie Zarkou, 21, who live at Markland Court, told Wigan Today that they desperately tried to staunch the bleeding from the victim’s neck using towels and rang for an ambulance, which arrived very quickly after being informed that a life was potentially in danger.
It had initially been reported that a gun had been fired but police later concluded that only a bladed weapon had been used in the attack.
Anyone with information about the attack is asked to ring police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
